This is something we rarely talk about. We have a lot of people email us at our Gmail account .... and we like it!!!

Not everyone needs help with a haunting.

Some people just want to talk about their experiences. It is very comforting to not have someone judge you because you have had a "Paranormal" experience. Or maybe to give them confirmation that another side really does exist and they may have caught a once in a lifetime glimpse. Affirmations are powerful.

We have gotten pictures from people of possible ghosts or spirits!!! It's great that the public is starting to notice anomalies in photographs. However, everyone who sends a picture in wants us to absolutely 100% verify that it is a real ghost. We wish we would could that, but we can't.

Not that we don't find the pictures fascinating. We do!!! It is that little teeny tiny fact that since we were not there at the time the photo was captured. We have no clue on what is outside the frame. We do not know what the surroundings were or if it was a shadow or glare from the sun. I suppose it is even possible someone wants to fool us. I haven't felt like that yet, but without being there when the picture was taken, we just do not know. When we take pictures on an investigation and we come up with something WE think is phenomenal, the whole team will scrutinize the picture before we will make any bold claims.

There are some people just want to talk to a Ghost Hunter! How awesome is that!!?? Not that I think we are super special at all. We just have an wondrous fascination with the other side or the Paranormal. But we are glad to talk to anyone.

Yes, we do have people that have "issues". Some, we do a home investigation. I will have to talk about those more in a different segment. The ones I want to talk about are the ones who simply want us to tell them what to do. I admire them. They are not Ghost Hunters and they are willing to step up and take their own home back. They want information and information is power.

We don't hold back. We tell them everything we can to help them. Why wouldn't we? Educate the public. Just because we give them the knowledge they need to have a comfortable home, doesn't mean they are going to turn into Ghost Hunters.

If you need any information, email us at PsiTulsa@Gmail.com.

First Recorded Ghost Story

There have been numerous tales of ghosts and hauntings over the years but have you ever wondered when the first ghost story was? One of our team members did some research to answer that very question.

One of the earliest written ghost story examples comes from a Roman lawyer named Pliny the Younger, who lived from 61 to 113 A.D. He wrote in a letter to his friend, Licinius Sura, of ghost encounters which had been told to him.  These stories were so compelling that he himself began to believe in the existence of the paranormal.
Here is the letter which has been translated from the original Latin, found on About.com:
"To Licinius Sura
"The present recess from business we are now enjoying affords you leisure to give, and me to receive, instruction. I am extremely anxious therefore to know whether you believe in the existence of ghosts, and whether they have a real form, and are a sort of divinities, or only the visionary impressions of a terrified imagination. What particularly inclines me to believe in their existence is a story which I heard of Curtius Rufus.
"When he was in low circumstances and unknown in the world, he attended the governor of Africa into that province. One evening, as he was walking in the public portico, there appeared to him the figure of a woman, of unusual size and of beauty more than human. And as he stood there, terrified and astonished, she told him she was the tutelary power that presided over Africa, and was come to inform him of the future events of his life: that he should go back to Rome, to enjoy high honors there, and return to that province invested with the pro-consular dignity, and there should die.
"Every circumstance of this prediction actually came to pass. It is said further that upon his arrival at Carthage, as he was coming out of the ship, the same figure met him upon the shore. It is certain, at least, that being seized with a fit of illness, though there were no symptoms in his case that led those about him to despair of his life, he instantly gave up all hope of recovery, apparently judging the truth of the future part of the prediction by what had already been fulfilled, and of the approaching misfortune from his former prosperity."
"Now the following story, which I am going to tell you just as I heard it, is it not more frightening than the former, while quite as thought provoking. There was in Athens a large and roomy house, which had such a bad reputation that no one lived there. In the dead of the night a noise, resembling the clashing of iron, was frequently heard, which, if you listened more attentively, sounded like the rattling of chains, distant at first, but approaching nearer by degrees: immediately afterwards a spectre appeared in the form of an old man, of extremely emaciated and squalid appearance, with a long beard and disheveled hair, rattling the chains on his feet and hands.
"The distressed occupants meanwhile passed their wakeful nights under the most dreadful terror imaginable. This, as it broke their rest, ruined their health and brought on distempers, even leading to death. Even in the day time, though the spirit did not appear, yet the impression remained so strong upon their imaginations that it still seemed before their eyes, and kept them in perpetual fear. Eventually the house was entirely abandoned to the ghost, being deemed absolutely uninhabitable. However, in hopes that some tenant might be found who was ignorant of its history, a notice was put up advertising it for rent or for sale."
"It happened that Athenodorus, the philosopher, came to Athens at this time, and, reading the notice, enquired about the price. The extraordinarily low price raised his suspicions. Nevertheless, when he heard the whole story, so far from being discouraged, he was all the more inclined to rent it, which he did. When it grew towards evening, he ordered a couch to be prepared for him in the front part of the house, and, after calling for a light, together with his pencil and tablets, directed all his people to retire. But that his mind might not, for want of employment, be open to the vain terrors of imaginary noises and spirits, he applied himself to writing with the utmost attention.
"The first part of the night passed in entire silence, as usual; at length a clanking of iron and rattling of chains was heard: however, he neither lifted up his eyes nor laid down his pen, but in order to keep calm and collected tried to pass the sounds off to himself as something else. The noise increased and advanced nearer, till it seemed at the door, and at last in the chamber. He looked up and recognized the ghost exactly as it had been described to him: it stood before him, beckoning with its finger, like a person who summons another. Athenodorus in reply made a sign with his hand that it should wait a little, and turned his eyes again upon his papers; the ghost then rattled its chains over the head of the philosopher who, looking up and seeing it beckoning as before, immediately arose and, light in hand, followed it. The ghost slowly stalked along, as if encumbered with its chains, and, turning into the courtyard of the house, suddenly vanished.
"Athenodorus, being thus deserted, made a mark with some grass and leaves on the spot where the spirit left him. The next day he gave information to the magistrates, and advised them to order that spot to be dug up. This was accordingly done, and the skeleton of a man in chains was found there; the body, having lain a considerable time in the ground, was putrefied and mouldered away from the fetters. The bones were collected together and publicly buried, and the ghost, having been appeased by the proper ceremonies, haunted the house no more."
"This story I believe upon the testimony of others; what I am going to tell you next, I give you upon my own. I have a freedman named Marcus, who is by no means illiterate. One night, as he and his younger brother were lying together, he fancied he saw somebody upon his bed, who took out a pair of scissors, and cut off the hair from the top part of his head; and in the morning his hair was indeed cut, the clippings scattered about the floor.
"A short time after this, an event of a similar nature gave credence to the former story. A young lad of my family was sleeping in his apartment with the rest of his companions, when two persons clad in white came in, as he says, through the windows, cut off his hair as he lay, and then returned the same way they entered. The next morning it was found that this boy had been served just as the other, and there was the hair again, spread about the room.
"Nothing very remarkable followed these events, unless perhaps that I escaped a prosecution in which, if Domitian (during whose reign this happened) had lived some time longer, I should certainly have been involved. For after the death of that emperor, articles of impeachment against me were found in his writing table, which had been exhibited by Carus. It may therefore be conjectured, since it is customary for persons under any public accusation to let their hair grow, this cutting off the hair of my servants was a sign I should escape the imminent danger that threatened me.
"Let me urge you then to give this question your mature consideration. The subject deserves your examination, and I trust I am not altogether unworthy of sharing in the abundance of your superior wisdom. And though you should, as usual, strike a balance between two opposing views, yet I hope you will lean more on one side than on the other, lest, having consulted you in order to have my doubt settled, you should leave me in the same suspense and indecision that prompted me to learn your opinion in the first place. Farewell."

Question from Facebook friend: Do you think it is a good idea to have a psychic on your team?

The short answer to this question is yes.

The subject of psychics is not one to be taken lightly.  Each team must evaluate carefully whether or not using a psychic is the right decision for them.  For us that is a resounding yes!

When deciding whether or not to use a psychic you must first ask if you believe in psychics.  Do we, the members of PSI, believe in psychics…absolutely! Do we believe everyone who says they are psychic – are psychic…absolutely not! There are many charlatans out there. Let me rephrase that. There are a lot of people who claim to be psychic and make money from saying they are, but are no more psychic than a rock. Like a good surgeon, they are far and few between.

True psychics can pick up on details and information that equipment cannot. They can show you the more active areas, interpret certain activity or relay messages giving you instant gratification than you get through more conventional means such as EVP’s and video recordings.  While the average person is most certainly impressed with a psychics take on a situation, sometimes they will still need to see or hear some tangible evidence along with any psychic insight.

Some teams like to have a psychic on hand to point out the hot spots. Others prefer to rely solely on equipment.

We have an amazing psychic, Sandie, on our team.  Sandie lives in Nevada (long story on how we met from so far away) and joins us psychically, called Remote Viewing, on our investigations.  We do typical investigations using various types of equipment such Digital Voice Recorders and Video Cameras and we provide Sandie the address and time we will be at the location (these are the only details we give her so that we don’t bias her findings).  While we do our part of the investigation, Sandie follows us psychically and then provides us with a report of her findings.
Each team member gets a copy of this report to review and provide feedback to her findings.  The information she provides often times helps us make sense of data we collected.

So …WE seem to have the best of both worlds…combining technology and psychic ability. To have a Psychic on your team is a personal team choice. But if you do, make sure they are authentic. To believe a person is when they are not, can get you into trouble.

Welcome to the P.S.I. Blog

We are so excited to welcome you to our first P.S.I. blog post.  This is a place to talk about all things paranormal and we invite you to comment, ask questions and share your own ghost stories and paranormal experiences.  We would like to kick this blog off by telling you a little about P.S.I. and introduce you to the team.

P.S.I. was founded in 2009 by Brenda and George, a mother and son team from the Tulsa area.  Brenda grew up interested in the paranormal and passed this interest on to her son.  Together with 3 other members and a psychic friend and mentor, they formed P.S.I. and began investigating professionally.

Since then P.S.I. has grown to 7 members:

Brenda – Co-founder and Lead Investigator
George – Co-founder and Lead Investigator
Brent – Team Leader
Charity – Team Leader & Team Photographer
Cyndee – Investigator & Blog Master
Clint – Investigator in Training
Sandy LaNae – Psychic and Honorary Team Member

(Bios of our team members can be found on our website:  http://www.psioftulsa.com/MeetTheTeamPage.htm)

Our team shares a strong belief in the paranormal and the spirit world.  With the help of Sandy, our psychic friend and honorary team member we work to find tangible proof that the paranormal exists.  You can check out the exciting places we have investigated and the evidence we’ve collected by going to our to the investigations page of our website:  http://www.psioftulsa.com/Investigations.htm.

We invite you to come along with us in search of the unknown.  If you have questions or comments please post them below or you can e-mail us at blog.psitulsa@gmail.com.  “The Truth is Out There”1, we just have to find it.
